Body fat calculator

Estimates only. Not medical, legal, or financial advice.

A tape-measure formula (Navy method) plus older ‘ideal weight’ equations. The output is an estimate. It is not a scan, not a diagnosis, and not a target we recommend you chase.

You have a tape and you want a percent the Navy-style equation will spit out. That is this page. It is more diagnostic-adjacent than BMI, so the disclaimer is louder: not medical advice.

BMI calculator is height and weight only.

What you enter

Circumferences the formula asks for (neck, waist, and for some versions hips), plus height and sex as the equation defines them. Wrong tape position is the usual error.

Robinson/Miller “ideal weights” are historical equations, not a personal goal.

Honest limits

  • Not DEXA, InBody, or calipers done well.
  • Not a treatment plan.
  • Pregnancy and many medical conditions make these formulas inappropriate.

If you want energy math, calorie / TDEE is another estimate — still not advice.

FAQ

Which method is this?

The circumference (Navy) estimate plus Robinson and Miller ideal-weight formulas. Different tape placements change the result.

Is this as accurate as DEXA or Bod Pod?

No. Those are lab methods. A web form cannot see your tissue.

Should I use BMI instead?

BMI is a different screening number. Neither replaces a clinician.

Is this medical advice?

No. Do not change diet or training from this page alone.

Are measurements uploaded?

No. Numbers stay in this tab.
