Print a footer page number — 1 or 1 of N — on each page in this tab. Organize pages first if the order is wrong; numbers that were already scanned into the paper will not move.

A print pack needs 1 of N in the footer so people can say “see page 4.” That is this page: an overlay in the current tab.

It is not organize PDF. It is not watermark PDF. It is not Adobe Bates.

Typical ceiling is about 32 MB. Tight footers on already-busy scans can collide with content; we do not run a collision detector.

Honest limits

  • No roman numerals, no “Appendix A-3,” no inside-margin lawyer styles.
  • Passworded files may fail.
  • Compressing with the JPEG rebuild later will flatten the whole page, numbers included.

To send only some numbered pages, split after you stamp — or split first if the binder will not load.

FAQ

Can I start at page 3 or skip the cover?

This build stamps a simple 1 or 1 of N sequence on the file you drop. For a cover without a number, split the cover off, number the rest, then merge — or accept a number on the cover.

Is this Bates numbering?

No. Bates/legal endorsements with prefixes and firm names are a different product.

The pages are in the wrong order.

Reorder with organize PDF first. Numbering a shuffled scan just tattoos the mistake.

Will existing printed numbers disappear?

No. We overlay a footer. Old numbers in the scan stay visible unless you crop them elsewhere.

Is the PDF uploaded?

No. Typical ceiling is about 32 MB.
